My Birthday and other stuff

It's my 31st Birthday today and I'm doing absolutely sod all to celebrate it but I don't care because we had a slight celebration last night, there'll be cake tomorrow night and there's the BBQ at Ness and Tony's on Saturday. I've even got my own little Hobbit chair with my 66 name on it (Frosty if you're curious) shown below plus lots of other cool stuff from my bestest mates (luv to you all if you're reading). More money is about to be added to the Vancouver fund as well thankfully.

On 15th August I bit the bullet and choreographed my first line dance. It's called Wonderful Journey and was written to At the Beginning by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis from the Soundtrack of Disney's Anastasia. This song is one I've had on repeat play after I heard it on an Atlantis music video, it just stuck in my head and would not shift. Anyway I was sat at the computer and the counts just popped into my head, 3 32 counts then an 8 count bridge, 2 more 32 counts and another 8 count bridge and then 4 or 5 walls to the end of the track. It was obviously meant to be because I've never even thought of choreography before. On the Tuesday morning the first 6 counts just popped into my head and then I spent an hour in the evening listening to the music and dancing whatever came to mind in the music, I think it's turned out great. I got to Hotshots (my Derby class) on the following Sunday and as per usual when people asked what I was doing I told them the title but I kept quiet about it being mine. I demonstrated a couple of walls and to my delight everyone (and I do mean everyone) got up to have a go still not knowing my secret. I taught it without any mishaps and asked them at the end what they though, it was a resounding success and I finally admitted that I'd choreographed it. It really is an insane feeling when you do something like that and people enjoy it.

In Martial Arts news I've graded again so I'm going for the 7th level (out of 9; get it, 7 of 9 *snigger*) I'm still enjoying it hugely although it is difficult sometimes and just lately I've not been feeling particularly well. I've had Sinusitis (sinus infection) which has been hanging around for 4 weeks now and for the first time ever I've been taking anti-biotics, something one or two people can't seem to get their head around *shrugs* Well that's everything I can think of for now and will be posting the photo's this week sometime.

Later......

The Wedding

Once back from G2 I had the house all to myself until Friday because unbelievably my parents BOTH went to Cornwall for a week. It was fabulous, no football, no rugby, no craft channel, no lousy Australian Soaps just pure unadulterated Sci-fi, fantasy and cheesy 80's TV series.

Saturday the 12th was the wedding of one of my very best and my oldest friends to a great guy whom she met at Uni I think and they currently live in Southampton. Originally I was going to be a bridesmaid but ended up doing a reading, one of Shakespeares Sonnets which I had no idea how to read properly so I just winged it. We turned up at the church and I knew that somehow Caz would end up getting to the church via something to do with horses be it riding side-saddle or by carriage. When I asked Dan (the groom) he didn't know it was a surprise from Caz's parents and turned out to be a matched pair of dapple greys in an open carriage. Of course within seconds of seeing them all us horsy people had asked the names which were Bally and Sky and were half brothers from Ireland. We all got into the church and business went as usual with weddings and it has to be said everyone looked Stunning! I was so nervous when I got up to do the reading I was actually shaking but when I got to the podium I had to stop myself from laughing because I could only just see over the top of it and had to bend the little microphone right down, I think I should have asked for a box to stand on LOL! It was very strange reading the sonnet I just kinda went onto automatic telephone voice but everytime I looked over at Caz she had this HUGE grin on her face so I knew I must have been doing it right. Got through the rest of the ceremony and went back home to wait for the reception.
Got to Holdsworth house (nice place) lots of piccies being taken by the official people I just kina hung around like a loose end 'cos I didn't really know anyone. During the meal I was sat on the first table in front of the top one, facing them and me and Caz kept pulling faces at each other it was great. Got to know a few of the people who I'd heard about but never met. The speach by the father of the Bride was hilarious, especially the recounting of the early 'horsey' years of which I was witness to, the best men were great too, a comedy double act between them.
The party was much as any other but with a live band and lots of people dancing from the onset of the music. I ended up sitting and catching up with Louise and Liz whom I knew from the stables so we just talked mostly about horses all evening, a great send-off to the best couple. I hope to include a couple of photo's here soon.

First of 3 updates in succession - G2

OK, I know I've not updated and have been chastised for not doing so, didn't realise my life was so interesting *grin* but it's my Birthday today and I don't care what anyone says I love my life. Anyway quite a bit has happened since my last update so I'll try and get through it in some sort of order.
GALACTICA 2 - Aaron Douglas (Chief Gaylen Tyrol), Kandyse McClure (Dualla), Paul Campbell (Billy), Nicki Clyne (Cally) and surprise guest Dan Bacon (Gate Tech. from SG-1)
This was at the beginning of August in Daventry and I took my cousin Darren (aka D); the sheer novelty of actually having a member of the family who was interested in coming to a convention is weird enough in itself but I got around it. Arrived at the hotel and quickly introduced D to Ian (JMC033 I think) whom he was sharing a room with for the weekend before dashing off into the back of beyond to pick up Ruthie and Kate from Long Buckby train station. I thought I did rather well considering I didn't actually have a clue where the station was aside from Long Buckby, who says women get lost all the time? I spit in their general direction
Shared a room with Nicki and Ruthie and the hotel was brilliant, the staff loved us until we got pizza from the local Domino's and left the box outside in the courtyard (they didn't know it was us but I overheard one of them bitching about it.....oops!), all I can say in our defence is they should have a waste bin there if then. Friday night at the meet and greet we celebrated my birthday early with cake (cake or death?) and glow sticks, not to mention the ever present Spermies that always end up at Ruthie's house, but I've got my very own Ronon one and he's still sat at the top of the bed *grin*. Much dancing went on that night well into the early hours and D was made a Jedi Chef Apprentice Yay!
Saturday started early as usual, breakfast not as good as the Thistle I thought but the rest of the hotel was better so it balanced. Didn't go to many talks but was Stewarding in the Photoshoot for a few hours which was fun 'cos the usual crowd was there and kept doing the Tesco run with Ruthie. F&C shop for lunch ..... yum! D beat all comers at chess out in the courtyard (one of those giant chess sets) including Aaron but I didn't get any photo's of that one as I was playing Pyramid with Starbuck erm........no sorry it was Jackie and Crashdown erm......no sorry that was Sean but they looked very much like them and it was great. Saturday night was the fancy dress and there were some absolute corkers! several of the JMC's went as Team America (hilarious!!!), another went as Eowyn from LOTR and looked beautiful, there was a Ghostbuster, 2 people had dressed up as Sixth that was Starbuck from the afternoon (Jackie) and Heather whom I met at P1. I do remember someone else went as Starbuck and there was a pirate and of course Crashdown! can't actually remember who won though........I think it might have been Jackie and Heather in those dresses. More partying on Saturday night and D got promoted to JMC *grrrr* I've been on the apprentice program since SG6 and he goes from JCA to JMC in 2 nights! I was not a happy bunny, same with Nicki and here I am always an apprentice never a master *sigh* looks like I'll have to actually make my costume then, have just bought some boots that may do for that. We had a new con dance announced as well, Dan and Kandyse demonstrated it but the only problem is it's the Electric Slide! I've been dancing and teaching that for the last 10 years or so and at 3 times the speed we did it there, Dan kept getting ahead of the music so it was a bit of a mess. I stayed up well into the wee small hours again *grin*
Sunday, same as Saturday but at some point and I can't remember which day it was, the Chef's caught Aaron out during his talk. Most people who've met Aaron know of his dislike for David Caruso (Ginger bloke from CSI, can't act his way out of a paper bag apparently), most of the Chef's dressed up (girlies included) in ginger wigs and smart black suits and walked into Aaron's talk. I wasn't there at the time but I've seen the pictures and the expression on his face is priceless! One truly amazing thing that did come out of G2 was Bert the Cylon, a short piece of animation that apparently took 7 months to create. The cylon walks into a corridoor and stops, a caption comes up saying 'Do cylons dream of electric sheep' then we go into a cylon dream sequence where he's doing the Macarena (no seriously, hand movements, jumps and everything), The Hustle and Saturday Night then we go out of the dream sequence back to Bert the cylon who shakes his head and walks away. We had to get the Tech crew to put it on twice because it was just so hilariously funny and no-one could help but laugh. Sunday night was kinda sad because it was the end but I'd made a couple more new friends and introduced D to the delights of Wolf cons. More dancing, drinking and staying up into the wee hours again.
The following photo's are the Stewards photo and my group shot which I had like 1 minute to do hence the rather bizarre way I'm sitting and I think Dan was copying.
